For many years, the bicycle has been a constant presence in my life, part of my journey and the way I look at the world.
It has taken me far, across different territories and cultures, from the Arctic Circle to desert and mountainous regions between Europe, North Africa, and Asia, teaching me to move through places with attention and respect, and to seek, in every expedition, a meaning that is not only athletic, but also human and social.
This way of facing my travels is the same way I face life, guided by my personal values and by the identity of the Sardinian people to whom I belong: essential, resilient, accustomed to confronting fatigue and the toughest challenges, from which strength, sharing, and solidarity are born—an identity that I have the pride and privilege to represent in every one of my expeditions.
It is with these principles that, in March 2026, I will undertake an expedition that goes far beyond the bicycle, distance, or physical challenge. I will join Fireflies Patagonia, riding over 1,000 kilometers across a land as vast and powerful as the cause that inspires it.
Crossing Patagonia by bike is demanding, of course… but it’s nothing compared to the daily fight of the children and families facing cancer.
They are the true heroes of this story, and the reason why I will ride all the way there.
In Fireflies Patagonia, we will not move forward with our legs alone, but with our hearts.
On our jerseys we will wear the names of the people dear to us: names we love, names we miss, names that give us strength when the road becomes steep and the wind too strong.
Every climb, every turn, every kilometer will become a tribute to their courage.
We support the Vivir Más Feliz Foundation, an organization that brings warmth, joy, and dignity to pediatric cancer patients. It creates hospital spaces where children can feel safe, playful, and full of hope, even in the most difficult moments.
Today, I invite you—deeply and sincerely—to stand by my side.
Your contribution, regardless of its amount, can bring comfort, hope, and a little more light into the life of a child.
Thank you for your love, for your support, and for choosing to contribute meaning to every kilometer.
This journey isn’t mine alone.
It’s ours.
With all my gratitude,
MICHELE MARONGIU
